“I took a private plane over east Portland and saw a ball field on 82nd and Holgate, it looked like a good place to build a shopping mall.”

About Eastport Plaza

Eastport Plaza is an open-air, community shopping mall located on Southeast 82nd Avenue in Portland, Oregon. Construction for this property began in October 1959 as one of the largest construction projects in the Pacific Northwest. Originally an enclosed mall, former anchor stores included JC Penney, Mervyn’s, Newberry’s, Albertsons, Tower Records, and GI Joe’s.

The enclosed structure was demolished in 1996, replaced by the current open-air shopping plaza. After all these years, Eastport Plaza continues to be a community-based shopping mall. Current anchors include Century 16 Theaters, LA Fitness, and Walmart. With its broad range of restaurants, shops, and services, the Plaza serves as an all-inclusive destination for your shopping, dining, banking and health & fitness needs.
